Redesigning the Firefox Logo / Icon

As of late I have been doing quite a bit of thinking about branding, and how companies represent themselves with their visual identity.  One product that really stood out for me recently was Mozilla’s Firefox. The icon or logo was initially designed and developed by Jon Hicks back in 2004.   Now it is seven years later and the wonderful logo that Mr. Hicks designed no longer seems relevant to the visual identity Mozilla has been creating with the Delicious Design League.

This is where I come in, I decided to take it upon myself to redevelop the Firefox logo, in a more appropriate Brand specific manner.  Below you can see the final comp I came up with and what it would appear like in context.  Like Mr. Hicks I went through hundreds of pen and pencil sketches before arriving where I did.
